"We're a special kind of people known as show people. We live in a world of our own..."

Founded in September 2007, Shooting Star Theatrics, Inc. (formerly Shooting Star Theatre Company) is a non-profit Hamilton theatre production company that brings Broadway musicals to our community at an affordable ticket price, making quality theatre accessible to all audiences. Shooting Star's shows have included everything from much-loved musical classics, to interactive murder mysteries, to hidden Broadway gems that have been embraced by audiences of all ages. In 2012, Shooting Star teamed up with local restaurant Spasso Ristorante to create the first musical dinner theatre establishment of its kind in the Hamilton area, thus expanding its offerings to include both straight theatre and dinner theatre productions throughout the year. Recently, the Ontario Arts Review chose Shooting Star's production of Annie Get Your Gun as one of the Top 10 Theatrical Productions in 2012 in all of Ontario. Shooting Star continuously strives to raise the bar for community theatres everywhere, and we look forward to bringing entertainment to the Hamilton area for years to come!

How did Shooting Star come to be?

On September 25, 2007, 17 year old Elisa Sorbara decided to pursue her passion and create her own theatre company. Despite having a physical disability and being a full time high school student, she could not resist the urge to begin producing full-scale musicals in a community setting. She chose the musical "The Boy Friend" by Sandy Wilson and, against all odds, in August of 2008 Shooting Star's first musical successfully hit the stage.

Audience satisfaction and media attention for the production greatly succeeded all expectations. Elisa found that producing the musical was a great distraction from the pain caused by her medical condition, as well as a wonderful way to work doing what she is most passionate about. Now with the company in its sixth season, Elisa is still Shooting Star's artistic director and producer, and couldn't be happier about how far the organization has come. She is very grateful to the Hamilton community for their abundant support in helping her transform Shooting Star from just a dream into a successful theatre company with a future that's as bright as the brightest star!
